Dodgers edge Reds 3-2 behind Skubal’s 7.1 strong innings
The Dodgers did just enough Tuesday night at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium, holding off Cincinnati for a 3-2 win.
Los Angeles scored in three separate innings and leaned on Tarik Skubal to carry the lead. Skubal allowed two runs on four hits over 7.1 innings, striking out five and walking two to earn the win.
The Dodgers struck first with single runs in the first and second, then answered immediately after Cincinnati’s only breakthrough. The Reds tied the game in the third when Elly De La Cruz connected for a two-run homer, scoring Dane Myers and erasing the early deficit in one swing.
But Los Angeles reclaimed the lead with another run in the fifth and never gave it back. Will Smith, Teoscar Hernández and Tommy Edman each drove in a run for the Dodgers, while Hernández finished 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Max Muncy added two hits as Los Angeles outhit Cincinnati 7-5.
Nick Lodolo took the loss after allowing three earned runs in 4.2 innings. Cincinnati’s bullpen kept the game close, but Edgardo Henriquez recorded the final two outs of the eighth and Tanner Scott worked a hitless ninth for his 22nd save.
