Dodgers overcome hit deficit, cash in on Reds’ mistakes to beat Cincinnati 6-3
The Dodgers scored six runs on just three hits Monday night, taking advantage of Cincinnati’s wildness and defensive lapses for a 6-3 win at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles trailed 1-0 after the first, but the game turned once Chase Burns exited. Burns blanked the Dodgers over 3.0 hitless innings, striking out five, before Brandon Williamson absorbed the damage. In 4.1 innings, Williamson allowed six runs — only three earned — while issuing five walks.
That opened the door for the Dodgers in the fifth and sixth, when they scored two runs and then three more to take control. Teoscar Hernández did the biggest damage, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Max Muncy reached three times and scored twice.
Emmet Sheehan settled things for Los Angeles after the early run. The right-hander gave up one run on three hits over 5.2 innings, walked one and struck out 10 to earn the win.
Cincinnati finished with seven hits to Los Angeles’ three, getting home runs from Elly De La Cruz and Eugenio Suárez, but the Reds’ two errors and five walks issued by Williamson loomed larger than the hit column.
