About PitcherStat Rankings
PitcherStat Rankings track MLB leaders across pitching, hitting and team performance throughout the season. Season Awards highlight the top performer in each category and can also be viewed by individual month. Top 3 by Category shows the leading season performances, while Toughest Season highlights the opposite end of qualified statistical categories. Rankings are updated as completed MLB games are processed.
MLB Rankings FAQ
What are PitcherStat MLB Rankings?+
PitcherStat MLB Rankings highlight season leaders across pitching, hitting and team statistics. The page combines traditional MLB statistics with PitcherStat metrics such as P-Score.
How are Season Awards calculated?+
Each Season Award is assigned using the statistic connected to that category. For example, the Strikeout Leader is based on total strikeouts, while the ERA Leader is based on the lowest qualifying ERA.
What is P-Score?+
P-Score is PitcherStat's own pitcher rating designed to summarize a pitcher's overall statistical performance into a single score. It is used to compare pitchers across the season and identify the PitcherStat Ace.
How often are the rankings updated?+
Rankings are updated after completed MLB games are processed. This allows season totals, monthly leaders and award positions to reflect the latest available results.
What does “qualified” mean?+
Some rate statistics require a minimum amount of playing time before a player can be compared fairly with league leaders. PitcherStat applies qualification rules where necessary to avoid ranking players from very small samples alongside full-season regulars.
Are monthly awards based only on games played during that month?+
Yes. When a month is selected in the scope tabs above the tables, the Top 3 and Toughest sections use only statistics recorded during that month rather than full-season totals.
What is the Toughest Season section?+
Toughest Season shows the opposite side of selected rankings, such as higher ERA, higher WHIP or lower offensive production. These comparisons should only be shown where the available data and qualification rules make the ranking statistically meaningful.
