Rangers break it open with five-run fifth, beat Mariners 10-5

The Rangers turned a tight game into a comfortable win Tuesday night, pulling away from the Mariners 10-5 at T-Mobile Park behind a decisive five-run fifth inning.

Texas scored in each of the first two innings, then added two more in the fourth to build a 4-0 lead. Seattle answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, trimming the deficit to one and briefly shifting the pressure back to Texas.

Instead, the Rangers delivered the game’s biggest swing in the fifth. After José A. Ferrer and Eduard Bazardo took over for Seattle, Texas pushed across five runs to stretch the lead to 9-3. Bazardo’s line told the story of the inning: four runs allowed while recording just one out.

Danny Jansen led the offense with a 2-for-4 night that included a homer and four RBIs. Wyatt Langford and Corey Seager also homered, while Justin Foscue drove in two and Nicky Lopez went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Cal Quantrill gave Texas six innings for the win, allowing three earned runs on five hits. Seattle got late runs from Randy Arozarena and Dominic Canzone, and Lazaro Montes supplied a three-run homer, but the early bullpen damage was too much to overcome.
