Data Sources

The data behind PitcherStat spans game results, player statistics, probable starters, lineups, schedules, pitch-level information, weather, market context and PitcherStat's own derived analytics. Different data types move at different speeds, so freshness is tracked separately.

PitcherStat is built so the same baseball fact stays consistent wherever it appears: schedules, scores, player and team statistics, lineups, rankings and daily matchup pages all draw from the same underlying information.

WHAT WE USE

PitcherStat uses structured MLB game and season information to support schedules, scores, player and team statistics, game logs, rosters, probable pitchers, lineups and standings. Where available, additional structured datasets support pitch characteristics, handedness splits, weather context, historical matchups and market prices. PitcherStat also calculates its own derived values from stored data, including P-Score, H-Score, T-Score, pillar grades, ranking context and selected comparison metrics.

FRESHNESS

Not every data type updates at the same time. Live game status can change quickly. Lineups depend on when clubs publish them. Probable starters can change during the day. Season statistics generally settle after completed games. PitcherStat Scores are recalculated from the latest eligible data on their own schedule. That is why important pages show freshness by data type rather than one generic site-wide timestamp.

COMMERCIAL CONFIDENTIALITY

PitcherStat may use licensed baseball data under commercial agreements. We describe the kinds of information on the product. We do not publish supplier names, contracts or how that information is stored.

How we label data

Official / source data
Game results, player statistics, schedules, standings and confirmed game information obtained from structured baseball data sources.
Projected
A clearly labeled estimate, such as a projected lineup, that has not yet been confirmed.
PitcherStat calculation
A value calculated by PitcherStat from stored data, including P-Score, H-Score, T-Score, pillar grades and comparison metrics.
Small sample
A real value with limited supporting observations. The sample is shown with it.
No data
A value is unavailable. We do not convert missing information into zero.

Frequently asked

Are P-Score, H-Score and T-Score official MLB statistics?+
No. They are proprietary PitcherStat calculations built from structured baseball data and are labeled as PitcherStat Scores throughout the site.
Why can a value differ from another website?+
Sites can update at different times, apply different qualification rules or display different definitions of the same concept. Official scoring changes can also propagate at different speeds.
Does PitcherStat request new data every time I open a page?+
No. Pages use PitcherStat's stored baseball data. They do not call an outside service for a fresh dump on every visit.
Why aren't supplier names listed here?+
We explain the categories of data used by the product. Commercial agreements can require us not to list every supplier by name.
