Corrections Policy
Baseball data changes, providers issue corrections and mistakes can happen. This page explains how PitcherStat handles reported errors and material corrections.
Accuracy matters more than preserving an old version of a number. When reliable source data changes, PitcherStat should reflect that change. When our own processing is wrong, the goal is to correct it quickly, trace the cause and avoid repeating it elsewhere.
WHAT TO REPORT
You can report an incorrect statistic, score, pitcher assignment, lineup, roster association, player profile, team record, venue, ranking, proprietary score or other factual value. The most useful report includes the page URL, the value currently shown, the value you believe is correct and the source you are comparing it with.
HOW CORRECTIONS ARE HANDLED
The first step is to determine whether the discrepancy comes from PitcherStat processing, an upstream data update, a qualification rule or a difference in definitions. When the source data is clear, the affected value is corrected and any dependent calculation is refreshed as needed.
MATERIAL CHANGES
A material correction is one that changes the meaning of a page: a final score, official starter, batting order, standings position, player identity, major statistical line or proprietary score. Routine refreshes are not treated as corrections. They are part of the normal data lifecycle and are represented by the page's freshness timestamps.
SOURCE DISAGREEMENTS
Official statistics and scoring decisions can change after a game. When a recognized official source updates a value, PitcherStat follows the corrected record. Where two sources temporarily disagree, a value may be withheld until the discrepancy can be resolved.
