Editorial Policy
How PitcherStat decides what belongs on the site, how statistical context is presented, how uncertainty is handled and what readers can expect when the underlying data is incomplete.
PitcherStat exists to make MLB data easier to understand. We publish pages when the available information can answer a clear baseball question — who is starting, how a pitcher is performing, what a lineup looks like, how two teams compare or where a club stands. When the data cannot support a useful conclusion, we would rather show less than manufacture certainty.
EVERY PAGE HAS A JOB
Our main pages are built around recognizable reader questions rather than arbitrary combinations of statistics. Pitcher profiles explain the pitcher. Hitter profiles explain the hitter. Matchup pages connect the starters, lineups and team context. Game Day organizes the full slate. Standings and team pages explain the league and club picture. The goal is a smaller number of useful page types, not an endless collection of thin pages built around leftover statistics.
FACTS BEFORE INTERPRETATION
The numbers come first. Scores, standings, game results, batting orders, pitcher assignments, rankings, splits and timestamps are structured data. Interpretive language is allowed to explain that information, but it should never contradict the data beside it or make a factual claim that the page cannot support. When a value is uncertain, stale or unavailable, the uncertainty is shown rather than silently converted into a confident statement.
SAMPLE SIZES
Small samples are part of baseball, especially in splits and batter-versus-pitcher history. PitcherStat can show a small sample when it is useful context, but the sample travels with the number. A handful of plate appearances can be interesting. It is not treated like a season of evidence.
PROJECTED VS OFFICIAL
Projected information is always distinguished from confirmed information. A probable starter can remain TBD. A projected batting order remains projected until the club's official lineup is available. PitcherStat does not upgrade an estimate into a fact simply because first pitch is approaching.
ADVERTISING
PitcherStat's statistical rankings and proprietary scores are independent of commercial relationships. Any future advertising or sponsorship must remain visually separate from statistical results and cannot influence rankings, scores or the presentation of baseball data.
