Dodgers rout Reds 14-1 as Yamamoto dominates and fourth inning breaks it open
The Dodgers turned a close game into a runaway Wednesday night, beating the Reds 14-1 at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium behind seven strong innings from Yoshinobu Yamamoto and a decisive six-run fourth.
Los Angeles had already built a 3-0 lead with single runs in the second and two more in the third before Cincinnati got on the board in the fourth on Elly De La Cruz’s solo homer. Any thought of a rally disappeared in the bottom half, when the Dodgers sent the game spinning away from Rhett Lowder. Lowder was charged with seven earned runs in 3.1 innings, and the Dodgers piled on six in the inning to push the margin to 9-1.
That was more than enough for Yamamoto, who allowed just three hits and one run over seven innings while striking out 10 and walking one.
At the plate, Enrique Hernández drove in four runs and homered, Mookie Betts went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs, and Kyle Tucker added three hits, a homer and an RBI. Max Muncy also homered as Los Angeles scored in six different innings and finished with 14 hits.
