Houston Astros 7, Philadelphia Phillies 11

The Phillies turned a loose, back-and-forth game into an 11-7 win over the Astros on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park by breaking it open with a six-run sixth.

Houston had built a 6-4 lead through four innings, getting home runs from Isaac Paredes and Cam Smith and multi-hit games from Paredes, Smith, Yordan Alvarez, Yainer Diaz and Jeremy Peña. But the lead didn’t hold.

Philadelphia trimmed it to 6-5 in the fifth against Hunter Brown, who finished with 5.0 innings, seven hits, five runs and seven strikeouts. The game swung decisively when the Astros went to the bullpen. Bryan King failed to record an out, allowing four runs on three hits, and AJ Blubaugh was charged with two more runs while getting just one out.

That inning turned a one-run Houston lead into an 11-6 Philadelphia advantage.

The Phillies did their damage throughout the lineup. Kyle Schwarber drove in four runs with a homer, Trea Turner had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Bryce Harper added two RBIs, and Luis Arraez and Bryan De La Cruz each had two hits.

Cristopher Sánchez allowed six runs in six innings but still collected the win as Philadelphia’s bullpen closed the final three innings.
