Mariners ride fourth-inning surge and Kade Anderson’s six strong innings past Rangers, 3-2

The Mariners did just enough Wednesday at T-Mobile Park, beating the Rangers 3-2 behind Kade Anderson’s steady six-inning start and a decisive two-run fourth.

Seattle and Texas traded runs in the second, then the game turned in the fourth when the Mariners pushed across two more against Cody Bradford. Cole Young finished with two RBIs, Taylor Ward drove in the other run, and Seattle made those contributions stand despite collecting only six hits.

That was enough support for Anderson, who improved to 1-1 after allowing one run on six hits over 6.0 innings. He walked one and struck out five on 81 pitches. Bradford took the loss, falling to 0-5 after surrendering three earned runs in 4.0 innings.

Texas stayed within striking distance and finally cut the deficit to one in the eighth on Jake Burger’s solo homer. Corey Seager also homered for the Rangers and added a second hit, while Brandon Nimmo chipped in two hits of his own.

But Seattle’s bullpen closed it out. Seranthony Domínguez and Gabe Speier bridged the final three innings, and Andrés Muñoz handled the ninth for his 26th save to seal the 3-2 win.
