Brewers outslug Reds 13-9 behind 5-run fifth at American Family Field

The Brewers won a 13-9 slugfest over the Reds on Saturday, doing most of their damage before the game was halfway through.

Milwaukee struck for 4 runs in the first inning, added 1 in the third and 3 more in the fourth, then broke it open with a 5-run fifth. That surge was enough to overcome a late Cincinnati push and offset a game in which both clubs finished with 14 hits.

Brady Singer took the loss after allowing 8 runs on 8 hits and 5 walks in 4.0 innings. Cincinnati’s relievers were charged with 5 more runs, with Graham Ashcraft tagged for all 5 in 0.1 inning during Milwaukee’s decisive fifth.

Garrett Mitchell led the Brewers’ attack by going 4-for-5 with 4 RBI and a home run. William Contreras added a 3-run homer, Brice Turang also went deep and scored 2 runs, and Cooper Pratt collected 3 hits.

The Reds got 5 runs in 3.2 innings against Shane Drohan, with Eugenio Suárez and Juan Brito each finishing with 3 hits and a homer. Cincinnati scored 4 times in the eighth against Kyle Harrison, but the Brewers’ bullpen had already created enough cushion.
