Padres at Cubs is another featured game for a different reason: the total is just as high, but the paths to runs look less one-sided. That kind of trend is hard to trust against a Chicago club facing a much steadier arm in Shota Imanaga. If that progression holds, the Cubs have the more reliable starter in a game where reliability may be the difference despite the inflated 11.5 total.

Texas Rangers at Cleveland Guardians earns notable status because Tyler Alexander and Parker Messick bring a true low-total duel, with both ERAs under 3.00 and very little margin for mistakes in a game lined at 7.5. San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks is notable because Eduardo Rodriguez’s 2.21 ERA gives Arizona a clear edge on paper over Tyler Mahle in a matchup that still carries offensive upside at 9.0. Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners is notable because George Kirby’s steadier profile contrasts sharply with Ryan Johnson’s 7.40 ERA, making Seattle’s side of a modest 7.5 total especially interesting in this division rivalry. Pittsburgh Pirates at Philadelphia Phillies is notable because Braxton Ashcraft has been the more effective starter by season line, while Aaron Nola’s 6.04 ERA keeps this near-pick’em matchup volatile.

The pitching spotlight goes to Eduardo Rodriguez, whose 2.21 ERA is the best mark among the featured and notable starters, and that makes him the most obvious candidate to control his game from the first inning on.

It’s a strong Monday card, but the featured games especially offer two very different versions of pitching mismatch drama.
