Jones, Cruz lead Pirates to 2-0 shutout over White Sox
The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a 2-0 shutout over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night at Rate Field behind Jared Jones and a two-run night from Oneil Cruz.
Chicago opened with Hagen Smith, who worked two scoreless innings on two hits. Erick Fedde followed with 5.1 innings and was charged with both runs while taking the loss. The White Sox finished with only two hits.
Pittsburgh broke through in the fourth when Oneil Cruz drove home Jared Triolo with the game's first run. Cruz added a solo home run in the eighth to finish 3-for-4 with two RBI and accounted for both Pirates runs.
